About Brian Clark

Brian Clark is a writer, traveler, and serial digital entrepreneur.

He’s the founder of the pioneering content marketing website Copyblogger (since acquired) and the midlife personal growth newsletter Further. He’s also co-founder of Digital Commerce Partners, a content marketing and SEO agency for digital business owners.

Brian has started four 7-figure companies and one 8-figure business, all without venture capital or advertising. He instead used the power of content marketing and audience attraction to bootstrap highly profitable firms.

Clark began publishing content online in 1998, and by 1999 had his first entrepreneurial success thanks to an understanding of how to use content to build audiences. He went on to launch two more successful 6-figure businesses using purely online marketing and digital infrastructure, attaining even greater success.

In January of 2006, Brian started a one-man website called Copyblogger, which quickly evolved into an influential digital trade magazine for the emerging content marketing industry. Both the Guardian and Advertising Age recognized Copyblogger as one of the most powerful and influential blogs in the world at the time.

Copyblogger Media never took venture capital, and made it to eight figures in annual revenue and high profit margins without advertising. The company created software-as-a-service, web hosting, WordPress themes and plugins, courses, membership communities and conferences — all completely bootstrapped.

  • In June of 2018, Clark engineered the sale of the company’s StudioPress division to WP Engine.

  • In May of 2019, Nimble Worldwide acquired the Rainmaker Platform, Premise, and Scribe SaaS products along with Copyblogger’s service division.

  • In 2023, Brian sold his remaining ownership interest in Copyblogger.
